JAX Refrigeration "Does it for the Love"
JAX Refrigeration hosted an exciting fundraiser on the opening night of the new Hoptinger Restaurant in Five Points for the Do It For The Love Foundation. Do it For The Love is a wish-granting nonprofit organization that brings people living with life-threatening illness, children with severe challenges and wounded veterans to live concerts of their dreams.
Adding to the excitement was the impromptu jam with Do it for The Love Founder multi-platinum musician and humanitarian Michael Franti and 12-year old Jimmy Moseley. Franti heard the young virtuoso playing his violin outside the restaurant and invited the young musician to join him for a song to a surprised crowd. Franti then invited the LaVilla School of the Arts student and his family to attend the concert at Mavericks later that evening. That’s when the entertainment icon asked Moseley if he would like to join the band on stage. Toward the end of the show, Franti brought the young violin player onto the stage and showcased his talents to a cheering crowd.
"I couldn’t hear anything I was playing. I had to keep putting my ear on my violin just to make sure I was playing it right,” said Moseley. "He kept looking over to make sure I was okay, and then he started to lay down on the stage and motioned me to do the same thing. That was so cool," said Moseley about his big moment on the stage.
Mark Lowery, president of the meet-and-greet sponsor, JAX Refrigeration and JAX Cares, said it was an exciting night all around for granting dreams. "We are obviously proud to help grant wishes through Michael’s Do It For The Love Foundation," said Mark. "But to be a part of something so organic, to see a dream of a young musician unexpectedly come true right before our eyes, that was pure magic."
The Do It For the Love Fundraiser, coordinated by CSPR (Charlene Shirk Public Relations) collected more than $6,000 dollars for dreams that evening – and clearly inspired a local young man to continue to pursue his own dream of playing and performing music. Doitforthelove.org
