The date was March 1, 2010. Mark Lowery and Ed Trotzke leased a small Jacksonville Beach office, with just four employees on the payroll. This pivotal leap of faith, however, officially marked the moment JAX Refrigeration opened for business. Eight years later, with President Lowery and and Senior Vice President Trotzke still at the helm, JAX Refrigeration has become an industry leader with five departments and more than 150 employees.
To mark the historical occasion, JAX Refrigeration is taking a quick look back at worldwide events coinciding with JAX Refrigeration’s 2010 establishment. Here are some of the key moments.
February 7, 2010 – The New Orleans Saints defeat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 to win their first Super Bowl.

February 17, 2010 – Mr. Elliot B. Weiss, a Scottish terrier, wins Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Dog Show, becoming the 8th Scottish terrier to earn the title in the 141-year history of the Westminster.
March 7, 2010 – An American film, The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, wins Best Picture at the 82nd Academy Awards. Bigelow also won Oscar gold for Best Director, making her the first female director in the history of the awards to win Best Picture, and the first female to win Best Director.

From its humble beginnings, JAX Refrigeration is now a nationwide organization with three branch offices and in-house fabrication shop, centered around an employee wellness-focused headquarters in Jacksonville Beach.. JAX Refrigeration has amassed a long list of accomplishments and awards over the year, including annual top rankings for philanthropy, best workplace, fastest-growing company and multiple ABC honors for Excellence In Construction.
To honor this monumental milestone in the company’s history, JAX Refrigeration marked the occasion with a party for the decades, inviting clients, friends, family and staff to join for an eighth anniversary bash. On February 25, JAX Refrigeration kicked off the party with an outdoor brunch on the north patio of Jacksonville Sports Tavern, including special guests from Dreams Come True, Blessings in a Backpack and several local mascots, more familiarly known as Fridgie, Blizzard, Truckie, Otto and the WAPE 95.1 Ape. Live music from Jacksonville Beach-based band Solar Tide entertained the crowd – as did the high-energy, mascot air guitar contest. JAX Refrigeration’s mascot, Fridgie, took home top honors for his rockin’ air guitar.
As a sponsor for Jacksonville’s ECHL professional ice hockey team, The Jacksonville Icemen, JAX Mechanical was proud to become the official "Keeper of the Ice", maintaining the rink at the Jacksonville Veteran’s Memorial Arena and ensuring good, playable ice for every home game. Naturally, the partnership fostered JAX Refrigeration’s hosting of the first-ever construction and trade industry game.
Friends and family of JAX Refrigeration were invited to take advantage of special discounted tickets, with proceeds benefitting Dreams Come True and JAXCares. In total, 325 tickets were sold.
JAX Refrigeration President Mark Lowery, mascot Fridgie and wounded warrior Sean Karpf dropped the puck for the game. Sean is the face of JAXCares’ Pay It Forward Program and was recognized as a "Hometown Hero" during the game.
To mark the truly memorable occasion, an epic mascot broomball match ensued, featuring area professional and high school sports and business mascots. A natural on the ice, The Jacksonville Icemen’s Blizzard scored the game’s only goal.
JAX Refrigeration would like to extend a special thank you to its employees for their years of hard work and excellence in serving the Jacksonville customers and community.
