JAX President Mark Lowery, JAXCares’ Pay it Forward program supervisor Sean Karpf, friends and wives attended the Furyk & Friends Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic in March.
The 8th annual fundraiser, benefiting children and families in need in the community, included a private concert on March 11, featuring Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Jordan Davis, Colt Ford, Javier Colon, Drew and Ellie Holcomb, and Drew Copeland of Sister Hazel. A celebrity golf event was held the following day, with Lowery and some friends getting the opportunity to play in a group with former Florida State and NFL quarterback Danny Kanell.
The lengthy list of celebrities in attendance included Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith (pictured at right with Martin and Mark), golf broadcaster David Feherty and Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone. The PGA Tour was well represented with the likes of Bubba Watson, Justin Leonard, Davis Love, Billy Horschel and Russell Knox coming out to support the cause. The event raised just over a half million dollars.
“We all had a great time and it was a wonderful event,” Lowery said. “Hats off to Jim and Tabitha in assembling such a great group of golfers, athletes and celebrities to support their foundation. The fact that they can attract so many great people to support their cause makes me proud that JAXCares can help support their charities supporting our local children and some of the PGA wives’ initiatives.
The Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation was created to help families and children in need. The foundation is a charity that is dedicated to making our communities a better place. Based out of Jacksonville, the foundation is involved in many different projects across North Florida. They collaborate with other organizations such as the Wolfson’s Children Hospital, Blessings in a Backpack and Community PedsCare. In addition, the foundation assists in providing necessary funding to help our communities become healthier, stronger and educationally-enriched.
